Stockton Missouri...
Stockton, Missouri was formed in 1846 and
is the county seat of Cedar County Missouri. Stockton is governed
by a mayor/council form or government with a mayor and 4 alderpersons.
The
Stockton R-1 School District is rated AAA, the highest rating
given in Missouri. The largest festival of the year for Stockton
Missouri is the Black Walnut Festival, which includes 4 days of
activities. Stockton also has a senior center and offers a wide

Stockton Lake was formed in 1969 when the dam east of Stockton
was closed. The lake reached its normal pool elevation of 867
feet above sea level in December 1971. It is operated by the U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers and has 25,000 surface acres of water
and 33,000 acres of public land. Stockton Lake has 10 public use
areas, 7 of which have fees collected by park attendants and 3
which have fees collected by ranger staff. Each area has a boat
ramp close by for public use and there are beaches in 5 of the
areas. A horse riding trail is located between Orleans Trail and
Hawker Point. A group use area and group camp area are available
by reservation. Stockton Lake has 3 marinas, each providing a
wide variety of services.
